Ainfael. Humans with a natural ability to attract Prana (cosmic energy) into their bodies. Excessive Prana they collect form into wing-like projections into their backs and trails around their necks that leave Prana trails. Such trails contain a ‘scent’ that magical creatures find attractive, effectively turning the Ainfael into living lures for the magical community.

Majority of Ainfael are regular humans who are unaware of their ability. Prana in its raw form cannot be seen by normal humans -- not even themselves. Exceptions arise to those born with a third eye who have the ability to ‘see’ cosmic forces and the supernatural.

BRANDS

Each Ainfael has a distinct Brand which signifies the classification of Prana they attract. Prana is usually colorless, but when assimilated into an Ainfael's body they become stained with the soul color of the Ainfael.

-The Brand of Snow has higher chances of attracting positive Prana and members of the Seelie Court -- to human myths, magical folk that bring good luck and prosperity. Their scent is sweet-smelling and redolent of happy days. Their Prana color is associated with tints.
-The Brand of Ash has higher chances of attracting negative Prana and members of the Unseelie Court -- the opposite of the Seelies, and misfortunes and tragedy is abound. Their scent is strong and redolent of tougher days. Their Prana color is associated with shades.

BURDEN

Burden is the wing-like projections on their back made of raw Prana that shed in small fragments… The tips are stained with the Brand but the burden itself represents the color of their soul.

Common: Two or more solid colors, gradient color , natural markings (similar to animal spots or stripes). Stain color is either white/black.
Uncommon:   Unnatural defined markings , lace patterns , simple shapes. Stain color is any light/dark color.
Rare: Runic markings (may suggest bloodline connection to past noteworthy magicians) , unnatural wing shapes
Legendary: Solid black and whites. This is restricted.

TRAIL

Prana markings that wrap around the neck area and extend like a tail with a pointed tip. Length defines the Prana acquired but it also makes the human more vulnerable to detection by magical beings.

(Brand Trail)

The trail shares the same colors of the burden wings, as the Prana also represents the color of the soul. The tip of the trail shares the same color of the Brand.

Common: Straight sash type
Uncommon: Lace Type. Wavy type.
Rare: Fragmented with Unnatural Shapes. Fragmented types are usually unstable.

The tip acts like a compass for magical creatures, and points to the general direction of magical folks nearby. If no magical folk around, the tip points to the Ainfael themselves. The trail cannot be controlled by the Ainfael owner, but they get a vague feeling of another presence when the tip detects a magical entity.

Common: Pointed tips with simple shape (Diamond/Heart/Leaf). Stain color comes in white/black.
Uncommon: Pointed tips with unnatural, ornate shape. Stain color that is light/dark color.
Rare: Third Eye tip ( available only to Ainfael with ESP/sixth sense) They are the only ones capable of seeing concealed magical entities clearly and could see their own trail and wing forms. Sclera color determines the Brand.

NAMESPELL

Words. They are the simplest form of guiding Prana into will and the basic foundation of spellcasting.
Among the most special of words in the universe is the Name. When an individual is born, a Name is given to them by their parents to hold what the child means for them, and eventually the Name will carry the identity they hold in society.

To the members of the magical community, another name is bestowed upon individuals who are distinguished by the universe in their strongest aspect and may be associated with a blessing or a curse. Normally, a Namespell is only given to magical folk, but as children loved by the universe’s Prana, Ainfaels are also privileged to receive a Namespell. Not all Ainfaels receive a Namespell, and only those recognized by the Keeper are bestowed by such. Addressing someone with a Namespell is a form of respect given by magical folks. To magical creatures, Ainfaels that lack a Namespell is addressed by the common term “Branded Child” or simply by their human name.

- Soul color/markings interpretation is up to you! We won't be enforcing a  color meaning chart for the soul. Let your imagination flow!
- The burden wing size / trail length is an indicator of how easily they can be found out by magical beings. The smaller/shorter, the less likely they become targets of magic folk.
- Brand of Snow/Ash only suggests the likelihood of Seelie/Unseelie court members lured in. It doesn’t restrict one kind from being lured to the Brand. (e.g a Boggarts usually prefer an Ash but may still be attracted to a Snow). Think of them as merely flavors or scents that may vary to individual tastes.
- Brands cannot be both Snow and Ash. Only one brand may appear on a human
- Ainfaels may exist at any time period. Current samples feature modern outfits because of the setting already created for them. Future Ainfaels may come from different timelines and cultural backgrounds!
- Kemonomimis are counted as humans since in some fantasy stories, they are regarded as regular/common folks. For design purposes, they should appear obviously human ( animal ears and tails only added on a human body).
- Not all magical creatures are invisible to the naked eye so even Ainfaels without the rare third eye can see them! The rare third eye variant just gives the Ainfael special ability to perceive what is not normally perceived.
- Detailed lore will be made available to adopt owners upon request only! It is not required and you can give any story you want for the design.
