Personality :

Observer | Passive | Composed | Detached | Eccentric | Out of the box thinker

Perpetually adorning a faint smile, she seems to be always amused yet detached to the world around her. Demure and reticent when it comes to first impressions, prolonged exposure to her company will prove otherwise. Often she would blurt out strange things and opinions that stray from the dogma. While she can be strange, she is not so different from any regular student.

Not one to yield so easily under pressure, Helena keeps a cool head so she can figure out what to do. It is difficult to arouse strong emotions in her but to say that she is expressionless is false. She can be detached and apathetic however, as sympathy and compassion can lead to biases which hinder neutrality in judgement.

To some degree, she is emotionally stunted and may display improper reactions such as laughing in the face of a serious problem. She has difficulty in grasping the emotional needs in others, and surrounds herself with variety of company in order to better understand.

In studies, you would never find her surrounded by books like typical Ravenclaws. In fact, she detests having to rely on printed material for learning. She prefers to learn by observation and application and rather finds joy in exploring the new and the unknown. She is not wise beyond her years nor among the smartest in her class, but she offers unconventional advice that may sometimes be useful.

✦ History :

Hailing from a small family of humble pureblood roots, Helena’s early life is magically ordinary. Being the only child, the young girl was given all the love and attention she could seek, but was never pampered. Early years prior to attending Hogwarts had been uneventful except for a few magical mishaps that occurred during the dawn of her budding magical abilities.

If there was one person who made the biggest impact on her character, it would be her mother. His father’s presence was never abundant, his job as a magizoologist requiring travel and more time with magical beasts than his family. He was never resented for it, for he made sure that in the little time he spends at home, his presence is truly felt and cherished. Her mother, on the other hand, despite being always around, was an enigmatic character. Skills taught in work seems to have seeped in her life at home, and as an Unspeakable there was very little knowledge she would share to her daughter. The mother often spoke in riddles to obscure the more sensitive content of her thoughts, which challenged the young Helena to think. She was given enough books to read on, but the pages never helped her understand her mother’s thoughts, and the young girl grew to dislike the inefficient bookish approach. This taught the young girl to crave for knowledge but in an approach different from burying noses in the leaves of books.

At age eleven, she received a letter from Hogwarts as expected of pureblood children, and her parents felt excited to know that their child is beginning her steps to become a witch. During the sorting ceremony, the Sorting Hat barely touched the tip of her forehead when it exclaimed Ravenclaw. She truly was fit only for this house and the young girl was pleased knowing that she’ll be following her mother’s footsteps.

During her first years in Hogwarts, the young girl sought to meet people than to pursue rigorous studying. Almost uncharacteristic of a Ravenclaw, she surrounded herself with people than books and often daydreamed in class instead of reading books and listening to lectures. It was not a surprise that she ended among the average ranking in grades, often becoming a disappointment to her teachers because she could’ve been a very bright child if she tried.

Her early years in Hogwarts is smooth-sailing at best, at least from her perspective. She had her share of bullies calling her a weirdo but in this school, there is hardly anything normal. When she was in second year, she was introduced to a group of friends who enjoyed Muggle culture and with them, she grew to be more open-minded. It was also around this time when she was introduced to Spongebilly Starshorts, and it was the first Muggle show she loved. On weekends, instead of visiting Hogsmeade or burying her nose in studies, she spent her time on marathoning the series. Upon reaching Fourth year, she slowly began acting more lady-like, and her manners slowly refined and befitting of a maiden with a faint smile. Yet, her thoughts remained a bit childish at most.

Now entering her sixth year, she looks forward to learning Apparition but the rest of the classes remain uninteresting except for the exercises that require less books, more wand-wishy action.

Stance on the looming threat of the muggle world.

Quite well-informed about the latest news regarding the ongoing threats, it is one topic that she carefully keeps a steady eye on. While some of her peers may shy away from the subject, she does not and rather finds it interesting to discuss. She herself admits that if the issues escalate to a bigger threat, she is not ready to take up arms. She thinks that there is one big lesson wizards and witches could learn from this - that their unwillingness to change and stubbornness to stick to traditions may be the real threat to their magical existence. Like all other species, they should learn to adapt and maybe they could be a step ahead again in this race.

✦  Trivia
- She only signed up for Magical Cooking to be as good as baking pastry like Spongebilly. Her efforts have not borne fruit yet though.
- She would have been better in the Arts classes.
